I’m somehow suddenly 50, kids are now teenagers and I need to start earning proper money. But I don’t know if I’m qualified to do anything.
I have a degree in advertising/copywriting. I went into magazines in my 20s, then went freelance and wrote magazine articles, columns and books. I’ve now been a freelance writer for 25 years but I suck at self-discipline and I’m crap at self promotion and pitching ideas so I don’t earn that much.
What job would I be qualified to do? Who would want me? I don’t have a portfolio of copywriting articles so I wouldn’t get those jobs. I’m too old to get a magazine job now.
Any ideas what I could look at? I’m happy to retrain or get more qualified. I live within commuting distance of London but it’d cost a fortune! But it’s possible.
I need to pull my weight. Any ideas?
