Company Secretary

Hi all

I have the opportunity to do my company secretary training through my work, whilst working in a Head of Governance role. I’ve done quite a lot in clinical governance and have dipped a toe into Board level work but the role of CS would be very different for me.

Does anyone have any experience of working as or closet with a CS? I would be really grateful for any observations, comments or thoughts you might have.

TIA Smile

I do company secretarial work but I'm a lawyer, not got any company sec certs. And I do it for a bank of clients so different companies not just specifically for one company. Anything in particular you want to know? I know a friend was going to do her company sec certs, she seemed to say it was well paid. So seems a good thing to have.

I’m a company secretarial assistant. If I had the opportunity to I’d do this job and get the qualifications. I have legal qualifications and started studying for cosec, cosec is really hard and each job I’ve had is very busy not enough time for me to study effectively (I’m old and my brain literally hurts.) But it’s something I’d like to complete. The job pays really well also.

I qualified as a chartered secretary but tbh, I found the day-to-day work quite dry and boring, so I ended up providing company and trust advice for a law firm. But it is a useful qualification to have and one that can be used a springboard into other areas.
