Why do you think you're good candidate?

I hate this question. What to say? I work in large organisation and now there's internal position available. It's my dream job and I'm applying. But I need to write cover letter and answer some questions, including this one. I've got good attention for details, I've already started training for this job earlier on and I do some voluntering within this area. But explaining, why I think I'm going to be good at work I haven't work yet, it's hard for me.

Have you got the person specification? If not, get it from HR. Go through it item by item matching your experience (with an example) to each item.

Hi MegBusset. No, I don't have person specification, I'll reach HR for it.

I usually use this generic question in an interview to emphasis the bits under 'personal attributes' as our internal interviews are very 'give me an example of when you did x' 'or tell me about your experience in y' which is all fine but harder to weave in 'I am a really amazing person to have around'.

Without knowing what the role is, it is difficult to be specific, but, as MegBusset says, it is your chance to do as it says on the tin. I love clear questions like this - you know what the job is, so why do you think you would be good at it ?

Either specific skills or experience relating to the job, or personality traits that will really suit the job.
Think of it as your chance to go through your CV or application form with a highlighter. It is your chance to say why they should choose you over the other candidates.

It's a good question to show off your enthusiasm. Not just your amazing relevant skill set, but why you want to do this job -- you said it's your dream job. Talk about why the thought of doing this job makes you happy.

It's accounting role in large financial organisation. I work in customer service now and never worked in accounts as such, but I want to ove there. I do some volunteering for local charities , but that's all. I have good attention to details.
