SAHM facing job rejection

Got rejected for a non-clinical vet role after being a SAHM for 5 years and feeling rubbish. Confidence took a nosedive. I know my vet knowledge is rusty and possibly outdated on certain aspects. Any medical/veterinarian SAHMs out there that could offer advice or their story? How did you get back into the workforce? Hugs to everyone!

Not knowledgable in your field but I've just been turned down for a role for the 3rd time and it's rubbish, the rejection feels awful so you have my sympathy 💐

There are over 100 applicants for most roles at the moment so don’t be disheartened you’re not alone x

OP it’s a hard time to be looking at the moment so please don’t be too disheartened. Just keep trying. It’s not the same but when I was applying for a placement year at uni I had over 50 rejections and 2 job offers. It’s horrible but was so worth it in the end when I got what I wanted. you will get something in the end. Fingers crossed You find something quick xx

Thanks for your kind words. Never realized how difficult it was for SAHM to get back into the workforce plus dealing with the unemployment levels due to the pandemic. Lots of competition out there.

Can I come at this from different direction. I know everyone likes to bang on about the difficult job market at the moment - and they are right-ish - some industries have been badly hit - but some haven't and are busier than ever. I think this will be a great time for you to look for work after a period of time being a SAHM - there has been a massive uptake in dog ownership - it's huge! From a personal perspective we haven't got near a vet for routine appointments in a year and vet's are not taking on new clients - there must be massive pent up demand for Veterinary Services and Vets...they may not have started recruiting yet for that demand - but when they do you will have your best chance it will be your time! I know you said you are not clinical - but it's got to affect demand across the industry.
