Most valuable employee award for a team of 2

I work in a team of 2. Unexpectedly (on a zoom call which included our team plus another team) our boss announced we had a team employee of the year award which was awarded to my colleague. Feeling illogical.. not disputing who should or should not get it, but somehow it feels rubbish when it's 2 people. Oddly if it had been 22 people I wouldn't be giving it a second thought. Feel deflated. Wondering if it's a message for me to move on. Feels all a bit school yard like for a team where we are all seasoned professionals in our forties. Any thoughts appreciated.

I'm with you - ridiculous and demotivating.

I mean, personally, I can't stand that sort of thing even if there were a team of 22, but with 2 people it is divisive and quite a shocking bad thing to even think about. If I were the colleague it were given to, I would object.

That is really shit and if I was your colleague I would think that as well!

The manager who thought that up is either a bit dim or wants to stir for some reason :/

That is a horrible and emotionally unintelligent thing to do, it is not at all surprising that you feel deflated.

Yeah that’s shit. I wouldn’t flounce but I’d be looking to progress my career elsewhere.
