Hi all!
Hope you’re all staying safe as can be at the moment :-)
I am just after some advice / tips / tricks for a band 6 admin manager interview within the NHS.
I am asking my manager this week whether he will approve me applying for a secondment band 6 position for 18 months. I am currently a band 4, but have been a band 5 admin team leader previously before having my son.
Basically my reason for applying is/are:
- I feel a bit restricted in my current role and feel I’ve gotten all I can out of it. The hours etc are good for childcare and the team I work in is OK, I just feel bored and like I need something more challenging.
- I have been approached by someone I used to work with (not closely) who is actually the hiring manager and we are having a chat via zoom on Wednesday about the role on offer.... which sounds promising?
Basically... if I apply (which I think I will with or without my managers approval.... meaning if he says no I’ll just go for the job as a fixed term rather than secondment.... 18 months is a long time to find something more perm).... anyway! My questions are:
Anyone on here recently interviewed for a band 6 admin role (service manager) and can give me a heads up on the sort of questions I can expect? I’ve read through person spec and JD for the role and I meet most of the criteria. I’ve interviewed for similar posts before but have always been given the same feedback:
-really likeable and 100% appointable, but there was someone else with more experience.....
Getting disheartened that I’m always pipped to the post on experience. How can I gain experience if no one wants to give me the opportunity to gain more experience? Lol. Anyway.... basically, help me with interview questions :-) worried I’ll clam up and look like an idiot!
Thanks in advance xxxx
