Microsoft Teams help?

Hoping someone can help.

I have an interview using Teams soon and I've never used it before so I'm just trying to set it up. It asked what I would be using Teams for, school, work or family friends. I initially selected work, however it asked for my organisation's name. Obviously I didn't have anything to put in this and it's a required field so I backed out and selected family and friends, which directed me to download Skype. I'm guessing I should select work, however what shall I put in the organisation? Does this show up anywhere?

Sorry if this seems obvious, I have ADHD and often get flummoxed / overthink when things aren't clear cut!

All the Teams links we've sent to people outside my organisation will either open in the app if the recipient has it or it opens as a weblink for those who don't have app. Could you ask the company if they can send you their meeting link so that you can test it in plenty of time for the interview?

Have they sent your a link for the meeting? When I had a teams interview I just clicked on the link and it worked. I did already have teams installed for my daughter's school work but I had logged out of this for the interview and I didn't need to set up my own account.

Speaking from experience, get a friend to set up a meeting and do a test run. It appears not to work with Mozilla internet browser (or similar, presumably) but if you use Edge it might work. I have been able to make it work on iPhone, though.

Ah ok thank you so much. They have set me the link but I was hesitant to click it in case they we're notified or it expired. The only thing is the email address they have for me is a gmail account. Will this work as it's not a microsoft email? I do have a live account which I could ask them to re-send the link to if necessary.

The link is taking me to sign in, with the organisation photo in the background (university campus) however not allowing me to sign in with gmail or live. I'll need to speak to them I suppose. I was just hoping not to have to admit I've never used it before as it's an admin position and it doesn't look very professional. Bahh thanks all!

Yeah it'll be fine. As long as you have working Internet and a browser like chrome, IE etc, you will be able to click on "join meeting" - it'll open up a browser page and ask whether you want to open the app or just open it in your browser. Click browser and then follow the instructions.

I think it's easier than zoom!

I’d never used teams before lockdown, it really wasn’t widespread so I wouldn’t worry about that.

You shouldn’t choose “work” unless you work for an employer who uses it, as it will then expect you to login “properly” with your work details - but you should be able to use it via a browser such as Chrome without the teams app. It won’t have full functionality so you won’t be able to blur your background, for instance (in case you were planning to!).

Good luck!

Had to use zoom in the end as the agent who set the interview up, the interviewer and the it department had never seen the error I was getting.... bloody typical Grin

That's so annoying @SpiceRat but glad the interview went ahead anyway. Hope it went well!
