I’m getting my self in a spin here! My employer wants me to work more hours a week, currently do 22 hours over 3 days. They suggested I work more during term time and less during school hols. So I’m thinking of 30 hours over 4 days (mon to thurs) and 2 days a week during school hols. Probably not all school hols as there is a lot! How do I work out pro rata and find out annual leave hours I would get so I know I will be better off please?

You currently do 22 hrs per week for 52 weeks. That's (roughly) 1144 hours.

Moving to a 4 day/2 day arrangement would be 30×39 + 13x15= 1365 hours, which would average at 26.25 hrs per week.

If you do standard annual leave as 5.6 weeks per year, your annual leave in hours (the only real way to do it for you) is 123.2 hrs currently and would change to 147hrs.

1365

@Lougle
Thank you, thank you! Just to clarify - if I was to take my annual on the 2 day weeks only .... so 147 A/L hours divided by 15 hrs worked each week, that would give me 9.8 weeks off?

In terms of hours, yes. But your employer can stipulate when you take leave, so they may ask you to take the leave during your 4 day weeks. It would depend what your contract said.

Thank you, you have been so helpful. Much clearer in my head now!
