Nurse Training Whilst Being a Parent

Hello everyone,

I have applied to do an adult nursing course starting in Sept 21 (the masters conversion for graduates, two years).

I'm in my early 40s and have two kids (7 and 5).

Working as a nurse has been a long standing dream.

I have got my head around the financial factors and my age. I am just starting to worry a bit about how I will manage the demands of the course with that of two lively young children.

I have a supportive partner who works normal office hours and I will also pay for the school's after school club for everyday I think.

I don't have any other family/childcare support.

I just wonder if anyone else has re-trained in this situation? What was your experience? Was it as hard as I am imagining it's going to be?!

I'm not so worried about shift patterns as my partner will be there at night, more so juggling the demands of parenting, running a home, placements and assignments.

Any advice please? Can anyone provide any insight re the timetable?

Thanks in advance.

I did it, my kids were 8 and 10 I think, it was hard and a supportive partenr was needed but it's doable.
