Verbal reference

Hi
I've had an interview for the role I'm currently doing but in another area/quadrant. I was successful in getting the post but advised a verbal reference was required by my current manager.

I know references are sought and I had put my manager down but hadn't told I was going due the interview...... I feel uneasy about celebrating that I've got the role???

What’s the question? Obviously now you know they are about to seek references you need to tell your manager sharpish so it’s not a shock, but why are you worried about celebrating?

Thanks for replying it was the fact I hadn't spoken to my manager and I felt it was courtesy to let her know before references were sought! Anyway sorted now.......
