Annual Leave booked whilst off on sick leave ...

Does anyone know what the situation is if one has annual leave booked during a time when signed off on sick leave? Do I lose the week of annual leave I had booked or can I take it at a later date? Maybe it depends on the company but I haven't a clue what websites to start searching for info.

Thanks!

Where I work (NHS) you have to contact your line manger and tell them you are sick and then the annual leav eis changedto sick leave and you get the annual leave back.

If you have leave booked for a future time (ie you haven't taken it yet) but you will still be off sick at that time, cancel the annual leave, that should be no problem at all.

If however you go off on holiday and become ill while on holiday, and then want to get back your annual leave because you happened to be ill during your time off, that's up to your employer.

adding to the end of Flowery's post

... and most employers will say no.

Thanks all ... managed to get hold of an old copy of our HR policy and it looks like it's the same situation as Tigaaaarghna.
