How much do I tell my manager?

I am returning to work next week after been on sick leave for the past 7 months, my manager knows the nature of my illness as OH are involved. I’m suffering with anxiety at the moment and I don’t know if I should tell my manager or not as I’m not sure if it will affect my performance at work.

I think you should try and see your GP before you go back to work. Is the anxiety because you are worried you won't cope at work. Maybe s phased return should be in place if it isn't already.,

I will be on a phased return which will be a great help. I think the anxiety is a mixture of worry about returning to work and also coming to terms with my illness still.

I think it would be very unusual not to be feeling anxious in these circumstances. I think you should tell your manager so that he/she can do whatever possible to support you. It’s in everyone’s interests for your return to go smoothly and be successful.

I agree with @flowery you've been out the business a long time so anxiety is normal.

I'm a line manager & would want to support you so I would want honesty from you (if possible) so I could support you.

I've also had long-term absences and found reduced hours etc helps. Good luck

@flowery @MrsRockAndRoll

Thank you both for the advice, I will try and speak to my manager about how I am feeling.

I think you’ll feel bit happier after the first week is over
