Working from home

What is the best laptop or desktop for home working? I'm a (struggling) freelance editor and copywriter, and need to update. I'm also a total technophobe, so have no idea where to start.

Creative types go for Macs. I have a MacBook Pro (my personal laptop) and a HP Elite (work laptop) - I have long fought using the HP because I was used to my Mac - the reality is if you will be using MS Office Teams (especially file sharing) Outlook etc it will work better with a non-Apple laptop - everything is just easier with more functionality. I still love my Mac - but for work in a non creative field I'd go for non apple - begrudgingly.
