How much do you earn

Have previously come across a similar thread on another forum and it was so interesting! Basically people commented with their job, age and how much they earn. I hate my job/industry and feel it doesn't pay well like I was led to believe but also feel I have no idea what's out there career/job wise and how much various jobs would earn so what I could do.

I'm 27, a solicitor in Scotland and earn £35k

OP posts:

AllTheGuac · 28/01/2021 06:26

@daisychain01 ever stop to think that some us name change?

TashieWoo · 28/01/2021 06:27

32, Bid Consultant in the construction industry, £40k. This is my 6th year in the industry working my way up.

CMeredithC · 28/01/2021 06:38

Early 20s, musician (classical, performing), £13k in 2020. In a pre-coronavirus life, it was something around £20k with tours and much more work abroad.

Shelby10 · 28/01/2021 06:42

Wow. I posted my salary yesterday and have woke up today to find out I have a very low paid job compared to most on here. I didn’t have to have particular qualifications though or experience so no surprise really.

Monkeytapper · 28/01/2021 06:46

Part time Receptionist, West York’s aged 42 ...£10k

Palaver1 · 28/01/2021 06:47

I’ve never understood the need to know other people’s earnings maybe it’s an age thing.
One thing I do know is one has to be quite clever after getting to a salary band.
To pay more into ones pension in order to take advantage of the tax contributions.

LovingBob · 28/01/2021 06:49

£25k from private pensions

Sorry you're very naive if you think a name change makes any difference to a hacker. Your username is associated to an email address. A serious hacker pulls together fragments of data from a gazillion different places and use software to sift and associate.

Why post such confidential information anyway just because some random, unknown person on here asks for it! Lemmings and jumping off a cliff spring to mind.

Midnightstar76 · 28/01/2021 06:54

44 Local Government Admin Officer Full time 22k

daisychain01 · 28/01/2021 06:54

So in response to your comment, @AllTheGuac I most certainly have "stopped to think" and encourage you and others to do likewise. But your choice.

Turefu · 28/01/2021 07:13
  1. Bank cashier , part time, 9k. I’m also self employed cleaner and normally I earn 12k, but not now, due Covid.
oohmyback · 28/01/2021 07:22

43 secondary Teacher (no extra responsibility) FTE is £42,780 (London fringe) but I work 0.5 so £21,000.

I gave up the beginnings of a career in HR to do this.....

eggsbenedict7 · 28/01/2021 07:23

31 years old, 70k + ~30k bonus Risk Management in Financial Services company.

oohmyback · 28/01/2021 07:26

There's a bit more to it though, we have 3 family businesses. We were earning £6-£8k a month before covid (and I wasn't working!!) currently around £2k a month from those

Totallycluelessoverhere · 28/01/2021 07:29

£3500 per year. Carer. I provide care pretty much 24-7 so my pay is just under 40p an hour.

WelcomeBackAmelia · 28/01/2021 07:31

Nearly 32, single, I earn £95k as a Communications Manager.

HairyToity · 28/01/2021 07:35

I'm a Chartered Surveyor, my full time salary would be 33k. It's less than this as I work 2.5 days a week. I'm 37 and qualified 15 years ago.

I suspect all my uni friends earn much more, but it's a job that local and suits me.

amymel2016 · 28/01/2021 07:36

33, environmental, £38k plus bonuses

gluteustothemaximus · 28/01/2021 07:39

40 - School Data Admin/Reception - 16k.

Keepingthingsinteresting · 28/01/2021 07:40

OP, being a solicitor can pay well, but it depends where you,I’ve, what type of firm you work for and your specialism. I am a partner so my pay is variable depending on profit and my performance over the year but would be at least £130k, but bear in mind I basically gave up my life for a decade to get here. If you’re unhappy look at the above factors and talk to a recruiter as you’re still young in PQE terms so you could still change.

Tiddlywinkly · 28/01/2021 07:45

36, £31k, education admin. NW, 35 hr week

zebrapig · 28/01/2021 07:48

37, support lead 40k

Found the post about commute/hours and work/life balance interesting.

Gave up a different career with better salary prospects 4 years ago and so much happier now. I WFH permanently, loads of autonomy and flexibility for DC. Makes a massive difference to family life.

Gizmo79 · 28/01/2021 07:50

40, nurse, 50k
