Jobs in mental health

Has anyone changed career or found a role in MH services?

Over the past 2 years I have taken it upon myself to do 4 courses related to MH and I volunteered at a charity for a year where I assisted people with many issues, mainly resulting from MH problems.

I would now like to take up a role in MH but don't know where to start or what kind of entry level positions are available.

Anyone made the move?

Also my references are a bit patchy. I was a SAHM for a very long time, then I worked in a charity for a year and now I have a p/t job but the company is huge and we have been told that head office provides a reference saying we worked there from X to Y and managers don't write references.

Have you tried within the NHS? Assuming you have a mental health service nearby, you could join the bank and work on a variety of wards, it massively helps with experience and if you like the ward you can ask about permanent roles.
