Just finishing up my second week of full time work after returning for mat leave. Can already tell that the key to making this work is going to be preparing as much as I can the night before to avoid rushing about like a blue arsed fly in the morning!

Working mums - what advice would you give to other new working mums trying to juggle a career with motherhood?

Don't get caught in the trap of thinking you have to do all the stuff you did on mat leave. Long ago I worked with a single dad who reckoned that the measure of equality was childrens packed lunches and kids parties.
Is the babies dad rushing round like a blue arsed fly? If so, great, you both just need to reorganise slightly as below:

Meal plan together and have it written on a board so whoever is cooking doesn't have to think.
Shopping delivery on a Sunday night
All shopping needs put on the list on the fridge/board
Washing machine on a timer so that there is a clean load to take out when home, and another load can go in and be taken out before bed
Dishwasher emptied before dinner, goes on after, emptied before bed, on in morning
Nursery bag emptied as soon as you are home, dirty clothes straight in the machine, restock straight away and by door
Outfits for next day laid out at night
Box of last resort - pack of wipes, some nappies, tights (if you wear them), pint of UHT milk, teabags/coffee, £20 in change, stamps, envelopes and anything else you might realise you desperately need one morning
