Testing communication skills at apprentice interview

Hi,
Does anyone know of any good resources for interviewing apprentices?

I am particularly interested in communication and interpersonal skills, as they need to be good with people, and have strong written and verbal communication skills. So would like to find a way to measure this at interview. Any ideas gratefully received!

I’ve done this in a previous job. We tested it via a combination of the interview itself and a group exercise between the candidates we were interviewing.
