Need some help with application form and wording!

Hiya,
I'm self employed, so have not filling in an application form for over 6years! It is only for voluntary work, but there are two questions that I am unsure on exactly what to write. I mean, I know what to write, but not how to word it!

Questions are:
Why are you interested in volunteering with young offenders?
My simple sentance would be (talking aloud) that I would like to help and support these young people to turn away from their crimes etc.

What experience/skills do you have which would help you work with young people?
Again, my sentance would be: I'm patient but not walked over (iykwim). I'm friendly, trusting etc.

Please help!

Thanks

what you've written comes across clearly & sounds good. Good luck & best wishes with this

Help them realise that opportunities exist relevant to them which could help them make alternative choices to crime.

You need to be specific with backing up your character traits I think. Patient but firm and consistent, outgoing and willing to work and be persistent to gain trust etc
