My friend has been told that her OH is only entitled to 2 days paternity at 90% of his income!!!!!!!!!!! If he takes anymore then he only gets £112 a week. Cant be right can it?

Unless his employer has an enhanced scheme, he is only entitled to £112 a week. See here. If he gets 90% for 2 days that's over and above his legal entitlement I'm afraid.

Good grief! That is awful, i had no idea. My dh is Navy and gets 2 weeks full pay, didnt know how lucky we were!

Thank you Flowery.

It's a bit rubbish isn't it? Particularly as lots of fathers are main breadwinners - two weeks lost income can make taking leave impossible if employers aren't more generous.

Girls, count yourselves lucky. When I had my DCs which wasn't a million years ago, there was NO paternity leave. My DH literally had the day they were born off work (and with DC1 the day after as he'd missed a whole nights sleep while I was labouring).

My dh was made redundant just after I got pregnant, too early for me to know, at the time we even discussed if we should stop trying, he found a new job within a couple of weeks, but because I was already pregnant when he started he didn't get any paternity, so had to take some annual leave. 2 days on 90% pay is actually quite generous!
