Maternity leave civil service

Hey,

I currently work for a civil service department and I am due back to work soon, however I have been offered a promotion within a different department to start on the same day I was due back to my current place.

Do I have to repay my maternity pay back or is it ok because I am transferring not resigning. Nobody seems to know the answer to this, including HR.

Hopefully of you lovely people have gone through something similar and can help me.

Thank you!

Is it inter department? Eg within the same payroll office. If so then no you don't and hr should know that.
If your moving to a different payroll system it's gets more complicated but if it's on internal transfer terms then it's fine and counts as continuous service.
Ring hr back and check it's continuous service

Its a different payroll system, it was an internal transfer with continuous service. This is so stressful as everyone ive asked cant say for definite Sad Thanks for your reply

It's will be in the hr paperwork, as for a copy and the transfer contract. If its continuous servuce I'm pretty sure you don't have to, as it would be discrimination else as your entitled to mat pay. I wouldn't worry but put it in writing to hr that you elive it's covered so you have an audit trail.

Can you state roughly what departments?

In the most simplest terms - are you keeping the same employee number / SOP number?

BBB12 · 05/01/2021 20:12

Home Office. No I dont believe so

I moved from one department to another but still within the same service. I got a new employee number annoyingly when they shouldn't have.
I kept my holiday and continuous service.

You should be able to aswell but you may have to fight it
