New Career in Probation Service or Nursing?!

I need some help here please. I am early 40s and have had a varied career in the public and charity sector.

I have always wanted to work in a helping capacity but have been hindered because I don't have relevant professional qualifications. I have a humanities related degree.

I was planning to apply for an MSC in Nursing (probably adult) for next September. It is something that has always appealed to me, helping people, meeting people from all works of life, A&E appeals to me.

However, I am also interested in the Probation Service and have been offered an interview to be a Probation Service Officer. I like the idea of helping people to make positive changes and potentially facilitating courses too. I would want to do this with a view to becoming a Probation Officer.

I am just wondering what people's thoughts were? Both are stressful and underfunded. What are people's experiences please?

Many thanks in advance xoxox

Hi OP, I'm a probation officer who started as a PSO. As you have a degree in a different field, it takes 21 months to complete the qualification although I would strongly recommend being a PSO for a bit first. Feel free to PM me
