How to cope when working in a bitchy office

Worked here for 19 years. A couple of years ago manager left and it all went down, staff left, new starters and now the office is awful. They are so bitchy, one I particular who does no work and because she has a loud mouth tries to dictate to others what to do.

I feel like looking for another job but at the same time don't want to as I have done this job for so long. Any advice how to deal with it

Stay out of it. Just don't be drawn into gossip and bitchiness - change the subject if any of it comes in your direction.

There's no harm in looking for other jobs but bear in mind (in this uncertain climate with job losses happening all over the place) with 19 years' service you have the security of a decent redundancy payment even if only statutory, whereas in a new job you'd have nothing. I'd try to stick it out until things have settled down, if possible.

I've never got involved or let it bother me but the past couple of weeks I feel the dread of going in work

Play the long game. At some point the bitching will mean they fall out with each other and will leave Grin

Yes very true. The last one they were nasty too left and I can see them moving on to their next victim
