Learning mentor interview

Hello
I would like to shape a career in pastoral care in uk schools. I had a disastrous interview today! The job was for a Teaching Assistant/Learning Mentor at a primary school. I had 40 minutes to arrange a mentor task and also another task. There was only paper and a biro in the room. The non mentoring task had a sheet which talked about a lesson where the learning objective was for students to follow and give instructions to take turns and it said about clockwise and anti clockwise?!??? It said the children would need to move the hands and just a whole load of stuff that went completely over my head. I had the plan the task around this and then present to the class/run it as an activity. I had no idea what to do?!??
The mentor task asked me to plan and deliver a mentoring task for a group of children needing support. The task needed to encourage students to engage with the school about their emotions.
I really did not know what to do for either of these tasks. If anyone has any advice for me it would be much appreciated. We’re they expecting me to have my own resources/tools to arrange and activity? I just really don’t get what they were asking of me confused

Without seeing what the task asked it’s difficult to comment. It sounds like the anti clockwise activity was a cover lesson which they wanted you to plan and then deliver. If that is the case it sounds like you dodged a bullet as they want a teacher without the training and without having to support them and pay them.

Sounds a bit much.

But all the interviews I've been to, I've had a prepared task ready to go. I think that's a given.

@thatwentbadly I felt way out of my depth! I have done volunteer mentoring and I have often cover supervised with tasks that were already set that I did not plan. Doing a lesson plan was like nothing I have ever been asked to do before!

@Thisyearcandoone not to me it isn't a given. I've had interviews for TA jobs and a behavioural support one last week that was not tasks set to go. This is the first time I have ever been interviewed for a Learning Mentor position. Do you know where I can learn about mentoring tasks/get the resources?
