Hi
Just looking for some advice really...
I had my DS in 2016 and relocated at the time so didn’t go on maternity leave as I was made redundant at the time of relocating. Not very much but enough to subsidise the 6 months off with my DS.
Fast forward to now, I have a job (been with the company for 18 months however in March we had to move again to a new area due to DHs job but my company agreed to create a new role for me within the area I have moved to on a contract basis to see how it works out) it’s within a sector which requires taking samples to customers and lots of of travel within the region in which we now live.
I generally love the job although this year has been a bit unsure because of Covid etc. Had to hve a pay cut etc
My DH and I have been talking about trying for number 2 next year. There’s no section in my old or new contract about maternity pay, I’m nervous to ask HR in case they feed this back to my manager or MD and this affects whether they make me perm or not.
Also, with stat mat being £151 per week- how do people do it? We have savings which we will likely use to subsidise- but what if people don’t?
If I am lucky enough to fall pregnant again, I’m worried I won’t be able to lug the samples from customer to customer and do 1000 miles per week on the selling season (pre Covid obvs) and therefore not be able to do my job properly.
And I’m also worried that I’ll feel under pressure to return to work quite quickly because it’s sales etc.
Can anyone reassure me?
