Hi all,

I have an interview via MS Teams later this week. Does anybody have any advice or tips? How have they been for you?

This interview is to join the corporate affairs department.

Thanks in advance!

I'm not an expert on Teams for interviews by any means, but my general impressions from having endless Teams meetings, DH's endless Webex meetings, listening to online TV interviews, and a few online interviews that DD has had:

  • Check you know the Teams platform inside out, have some practice meetings and play around with mute/camera/screen options in advance.
  • Make sure your sound quality is excellent - will make it so much easier for the interviewer to concentrate on what you're saying rather than the tinny laptop audio. Earphones would be fine at a pinch - I would personally prefer to see someone wearing a proper headset.
  • Do consider the position of the laptop and your backdrop. It should be the same height as your head so you're not looking down at the camera, plainish, uncontroversial background (plain wall is best), and balanced lighting. You might need to try out a number of spots in your home before getting the perfect balance - I heard facing a window is good.
-Wear decent clothing on both halves, just in case you have to stand up! Best of luck!
