Anonymous bully reporting

I was sent a message that was not for me but was saying something awful (personal) about a colleague. The sender recalled and nothing else said. They are very senior.

My company may lay off people in early 2021, I don’t want to be laid off. I know whistleblowing would protect me however I don’t want to take a risk. Can I report anonymously? I fee this should be called out and dealt with..

I think if your report anonymously the senior member of staff will know it was you. Do you have evidence? A screenshot or something?

No but sent from a work device. So assume even if deleted then traceable?

I wondered if I could just flag bullying and that would lead to an investigation...sounds like was not a one off comment...

There needs to be something specific to investigate.

Also a bullying report is not covered by the whistle blowing legislation, that only covers public interest disclosures.

Thankyou.

That really puts me in a pickle as I wouldn’t be comfortable risking my own job security but at the same time, feel it needs to be flagged.

If I were to flag that I have seen some messages equating to bullying of Xxx by Yyy but few concerned for my own role so wish to remain anoynomous. Would they not have a duty to look into?
