NHS agenda for change

Has anyone matched previous jobs not in the NHS against AfC successfully in a job application to the NHS? Did you use current AFC salary scales or those at the time of the job? (Might be higher if I use the band's at the time?)

Not sure what your question is. Are you trying to argue that your non NHS job is equivalent to a particular banding in NHS?

Yes that's it

Why? The nhs job will have been assessed via agenda for change and will have been banded before advertising. That won't be changed because a non NHS job gets paid differently.

Are you in a private sector job applying for an NHS job? In which case the band is the band you can't change that. Though you can use current salary to negotiate a starting point within the band.

If you're in private sector job (I'm guessing you're a HCP in a private company or independent company) you could potentially compare job specs to get to a similar standard of pay but your employer is under no obligation to match AFC

Thanks. The application asks me to mark which band my previous jobs (non nhs) sit against...Just not sure if I should use the Afc at that time or the most up to date one...

Do you definitely need to include a band if it wasn't an AfC role? Seems a bit odd. Do you mean matching the salary or matching the role to a band?

Sjai · 30/11/2020 09:13

It is a bit odd but that is what the application requires unfortunately...:-(

There's normally a thing that says band or salary because not everyone applying for nhs jobs is on the banding format, eg you.

But if you have to include it, find out what band your current salary sits in and enter that.

Actually. I wouldn't include a band at all unless you currently work for NHS. I'm almost certain it asks for salary too. Band isn't a mandatory field
