Really fed up with my job, it’s only part time as I am a carer to a disabled child. I spend a lot of time outdoors when I’m not working and have been interested in nature and conservation since a child but it’s always been a hobby and a passion rather than a job opportunity. I have been looking at jobs in that area and stumbled upon my perfect job but obviously I have no work experience in this area and no qualifications (also I have a lot of knowledge). As it’s looking like we will be spending the next few months under some kind of restrictions and I haven’t got much work on I am considering doing a few online courses and maybe volunteering at a local nature reserve but I’m worried that my age will go against me when looking for work and only just obtaining qualifications that are totally different than what I’m doing at the moment.
Has anyone else retrained in their 40’s? Have you managed to find work?
And before anyone comments about it being a low paid career, I am totally aware of that, it’s more about doing something I am passionate about.
