NHS new job starting off sick

Hi, I am in one NHS role and moving to another trust in new year. Currently off sick due to post covid syndrome. I’m really hoping to get well soon so I can go back in and finish off at my old place and start new job fighting fit. However, I am wondering what would happen if I’m still not fit for work when my new job starts, does anyone know? Would I be entitled to usual sick leave and pay from day 1 given it’s continuous NHS service?

You'll have continuous service so you'll get paid but at our place (hospital) covid sickness is going down separately and isn't taken into account with normal sickness so you'll get paid anyway x

Same here. Covid19 sickness isn't counted the same. Our trust has also changed the phased return process. Can you access your new trust's policies online?

Oh really? Thanks that’s good to know. My GP has been putting post viral fatigue syndrome on my last 2 fit notes (previously “coronavirus infection”), does it need to stipulate covid?

I don’t think I can access their policies online (usually they are on a staff intranet aren’t they?) but I would have thought all trusts would have common policy?

Ours have to stipulate covid on the sick note. We've have someone off since March and every sick note states post covid symptoms so their sickness record isn't affected.
