Days off to lok after sick children

Sorry if this has been done before, but is there an entitlement to paid days off for this? My boss is quite reasonable about this, but my dh's insist they take holidays/unpaid days for this. What are the rules?

You are entitled to unpaid time off on an emergency basis see here but not paid time.

no. but some employers give above and beyond.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but you have no legal right to paid time off to look after dependants ... info from working families here
