Dreading going back

I'm not due back until January but am already stressed about it to the extent I'm applying for anything else I can find.
I disliked the job anyway and now we have signed the fully flexible contract it's even worse.
When I signed it it was fine because my two eldest are old enough to look after themselves for a few hours, now I have a baby it's not so easy.
Stupidly I joined the WhatsApp group for our department and have seen that the manager is making everyone do shorter shifts over more days. I asked for 6 hours 3 days a week (shifts are only 6 hours) but a lot of times he's only allowing staff to do 4 hours a day and then begging staff to do overtime for 2 hours.
I'm so worried about this happening to me. While he verbally agreed to my request he did say he might well change my hours and hasn't written to me despite saying he would.
I can't afford childcare 5 days a week but I do need to work. My husband said if they mess my hours up then just to leave (we can live on my husbands wages but will be very tight)
I posted about this before and was told just wait and see but now I know he's messing with everyone's hours I can't see why it'll be different for me. Three people have left already due to problems with childcare.

I've worked pt since having kids and every employer has wanted flexibility, I've never been allowed to do 3 days, had to fight for 4 because they need cover in the middle of the day. My suggestion is to find childcare with flexibility eg if you can pick up by 3pm a childminder may be able to have other kids after school so only will charge you for the 5 hours or so you need.
