Hiring EU nationals after Brexit

Can anyone in the know explain what happens after Brexit. Does a company have to get a licence and sponsor a potential employee?

Very confused!

If they're resident in UK before 1 Jan then no problem - they'll need to apply for settled status before June 2021 that's all.

If resident outside of UK then will need sponsor and enough points like non-EU now (I think).
