Commute for the perfect job?

I’ve seen a job for an assistant principle and have been to visit the school today and it’s ideal. It took me 50 mins to get there without the traffic that I may get. My twins are nearly nine now and so I’m not sure whether I’d be mean leaving at 7 and returning at 6 when at the moment I’m commuting 25 mins each way to work. The job at the moment that I have has no room for growth and I feel fed up. What would you do?

I have to travel across the City sometimes once a week, sometimes less often for a meeting that finishes just about as the rush "hour" 3 hours gets into full flow. in the middle of the day, I can do the journey in about 40 - 45mins. Every.Single. Time. I sit for the 75 - 90min journey home (not counting when there has been a major accident or diversion or hold up for some other reason), I get frustrated, and thank my lucky stars I'm not doing this 5 days a week x Twice a day.

Obviously, it depends how great the new job is; how frustrating the current job is; what the likelihood of a similarly interesting promotion coming up nearer you ; plus things like how 'available' your partner is for sharing pick ups and drop offs, or what emergency cover you have in place for childcare for when you get stuck.
