Annoyed by lack of contact

I applied for a job (with my local council) last month and was invited to interview on 8th October. Due to social distancing, the interview was done via Teams. Prior to this, I was expected to arrange an afternoon to test the software worked for the interview (which I did) and was phoned by the interviewers on three occasions to discuss the interview process and change the time of the interview (at their request).

I had the interview and they told me they would contact me towards the end of last week with a decision. It's Monday and I am yet to hear from them. I looked at my online applicant profile and under the stage in the process it says "Reject after interview". Luckily I was offered another job by a different company in the intervening week so I'm not upset by the knock back.

I am, however, very miffed that they haven't even had the good manners to contact me and give me any feedback.

It's the first time I've applied for jobs in 5 years so am I just out of touch? Now that we use online application processes should I not expect a call after interview if I'm unsuccessful?

You rarely hear back I'm afraid. It's really difficult to get feedback. Well done on your new job

Really? It's common practice now? I've never experienced this before. I'll delete my drafted angry email then hahaha
