Notice on FTC

My FTC is coming to an end and I've been notified that it will not be renewed. They only told me this with 3 weeks notice, in my contract it says they should give me a month. What can I do in this situation? Ask them to pay me in lieu of notice for that one week?

How long have you been on the FTC? If it is less than two years, they do not have to give you any notice, it is assumed that it will end as per the end date on the contract.

Oh, really? Then why does it say 1 month in my contract? Yes, less than 2 years unfortunately.

The one month notice period is if the employer (or you) decided to terminate the contract early. E.g. the FTC was for 12 months but you or the employer decided to terminate at 9 months, in this case the months notice is required.

As you have been there less than two year, there is no action to take here and they do not need to pay you an extra week.

Ahh, I see. Thanks for clearing that up!
