Reign before being sacked?

Morning. A family member is on a final written warning for breaching GDPR. She has since been involved in dispute with colleagues which was already being referred to HR. She has made a further error this week and has disciplinary meeting next week. I would say it is inevitable she will be dismissed.
She can't face this and wishes to resign. She says that if she resigns she won't have to attend disciplinary meeting? I'm not sure about this.
She doesn't have a job to go to, I've warned her it may impact her claim to benefits and I've just read online it could affect ability to get another job as employer could mention issues in her reference.
Any advice?

She shouldn't resign. She's been there 30 years so must have been good.

Yes the 30 years service make a big difference and she shouldn't resign.
That said, no organisation can afford to keep on someone who fails on GDPR, the fines and legal issues are extraordinarily high depending on which country you are in, but this can't be tolerated.

It's a difficult balance. Barring the grievance procedures going on, it would be cheaper and more reasonable of them to fire her and give little of no severance package at all. This is gross misconduct.

It's a difficult one. She can claim they haven't got procedures or training in place to ensure GDPR compliance....just a thought (won't necessarily make any difference but bounces the ball back potentially).
