I use the service Sitters (I think Mumsnet has a link to it) and find it very reliable. I request the same person each time, which means she knows DS.

Welcome to Mumsnet! The link is in the "Mumbers' Discounts" section, near the bottom. The Sitters website is Sitters

I had a look at the site, its just that doing it thru agency makes it so expensive!!!Do u know if I can put the area I live in on the message board and see if anyone in my area knows of sitter??

I've just joined sitters and think they're fab.

Does you dd or ds go to nursery? The girls that work at dd's nursery often do babysitting to earn a bit of extra cash - and it's great for dd too as she knows them really well. One of them came over and looked after dd all day Saturday a couple of months ago when we went to a wedding - dd had a fabulous time!

I'll second that vote. We have just joined Sitters and are very impressed. Both of the sitters they sent us were great.
