and I feel so nervous.

Is it normal to feel so scared and nervous after been off sick long term. I enjoyed my job before going off sick but I feel so anxious about returning.

Good luck OP, I hope it goes well. I think it is entirely normal to feel like that, it’s like the feeling of starting a new job but the upside is you know people and the surroundings. Once you get there I’m sure the nerves will fade away.

I'm due back at the end of this month on a phased return after a year's sick leave followed by furlough. I went through the grievance process and had a mental breakdown due to bullying and discrimination. So it will be extremely hard for me. cannot afford to just quit (DHs job could go in this current climate) and I'm having no luck with my job search.

I was very nervous, too, going back after 4 months off sick. I think it's perfectly normal to feel this way. Just take your time to settle back in, learn about the things that have changed and don't expect too much of yourself right away.

Good luck and please try not to worry, just take your time to get back into the swing of things. Do you have a staggered return? Do you like your colleagues?

Its totally normal to feel anxious about returning. I was pretty anxious about going back to work after long term sick, particularly since it was MH related, and was pleasantly surprised that my colleagues were very supportive. It turned out being quite a nice feeling having people glad to have you back. At the end of the day, its in everyone's best interests for your return to work to be successful, so just be gentle with yourself and you'll be back into it before you know it :)
