Returning to teaching

Wondered if anyone on here has returned to teaching after a few years out? I taught in school (secondary - English teacher) for one year, am fully qualified.

I left because a family member became very unwell and I needed more flexibility whilst we got him settled into care, which has now happened.

I've been working in public and private sector office roles for the 5 years since, and would now like to return to the classroom.

Obviously will brush up on curriculum changes, but wondered what else I could do to help me bridge the gap/write a good application. Would it be beneficial to arrange some days at a local school?

Any experience much appreciated!

I'd 100% recommend this, but am not sure how open they will be to having anyone who isn't needed in the building, into schools at the moment.
