Hi guys, I work on a 0 hour contract for a company to help in nurseries unfortunately because of the Covid I've not been getting any work. And I'm currently 5 months pregnant so nobody will employ me neither. What's the best thing for me at the minute?

If you are on 0 hours, not much you can do unless you can show that the reason for them not offering you hours is your pregnancy. EG if others are being offered hours but not you.
However if everyone is being offered less hours and it is truly due to a downturn in work then you'll have to either try to get work elsewhere or go on benefits

I'm sorry you're in this situation! Would you be able to look into maternity allowance? If eligible for the higher amount then it is the same amount as SMP and you can start being paid 11 weeks before the birth I believe. How long have you been working there?

Can you look at other types of zero hours work, anything just to get some money coming in ? My son has just got a zero hours job packing gifts in a factory. The pay is pretty good for what he is doing.
