Hi all

Had a zoom job interview earlier today which I think went well but afterwards thinking ‘oh god I could have said this, that and the other’! That’s pretty normal though eh?

Furlough finished last week and contract has ended so hopefully I won’t be unemployed for too much longer!

Now I wait, they said they’ll get back to me by tomorrow, so fingers crossed! Please help to distract me by giving me positive interview stories 😊

Anyone else had any interviews recently? What was your outcome?

Urgh, I know that feeling well - the over analysis of every little joke you made that may or may not have fallen flat, the time you stumbled over your words, the thing you really should have said but didn't! By about an hour after the interview I've usually convinced myself that not only have I not got it, I must have made the panel think I was a raving lunatic etc etc! I think somehow video interviews are worse for this because it's harder to get a 'read' off the interviewer, their body language and so on.

I had a couple of interviews pre-lockdown, didn't get either, one went well and the lady was very lovely and complimentary afterwards, just said they went with someone with more experience (that old chestnut!), reading between the lines I think this was an internal candidate. The 2nd job they never got back to me Angry - that one I genuinely didn't get a great vibe during the interview itself and I was probably a bit under-prepared TBF - so not a shock to not get it but would have been nice to be confirmed!

Then I've had 2 virtual/video call ones during lockdown, one was plagued with technical issues so v stressful, but went OK considering, I didn't get it, the panel didn't give me direct feedback but passed on some comments to the agency who said I was 2nd choice behind someone with 'more industry experience' (fair enough, it was a related industry to where my main experience is) and I came across as 'competent but a bit reticent' (bit weird but OK Confused ). The 4th job I am still waiting to hear from so fingers crossed (4 has always been my magic number when job hunting, I seem to take 3 interviews to get into the groove!).

Good luck, really hope you get it!

Same boat here OP! Interview today over zoom and they said they’ll get back to me tomorrow. I’m now of course over analysing everything I said and have convinced myself I won’t get it. Even though I did have a good feeling straight after the interview and thought it went well. I hate the waiting.

@maxelly glad I’m not the only one! I just never understand why employers ever get back though, so rude! I agree though about the body language as you don’t want to look like you’re staring so important to think about what your face is doing as well!

It’s good that you’re getting interviews though, just look at it as good practise! All the best of luck for the result of interview number 4, keep me posted!

@Planterpots yes, exactly the same. I’m sitting here thinking please just put me out of my misery!

Always, always over analyse every time but they seemed nice and interested and didn’t need to do any further probing so that could be a good sign, have to think positive. Good luck and hope you get the job, let me know the outcome!

I had a Zoom interview a couple of weeks ago. It went ok but in retrospect I could have answered the questions better. They said they would let me know within the week but here I am still waiting! I didn't particularly want the job.
I applied because I met the criteria and though why not apply but my heart wasn't really in it. The interview experience itself was incredible useful as I have been out of the job hunting arena for a long time!
Good luck everyone.

SnowfallSnowball · 09/09/2020 11:23

I was meant to hear back about the job yesterday but didn’t, emailed the recruiter this morning that I’d been in contact with and managers are still in ‘decision mode’. Arghhh just put me out of my misery!

Has anyone else heard back?

Hope everyone hears back soon.

I'm waiting to hear back from a video interview yesterday. Didn't finish the interview until 4.15 but they said they'd let me know the outcome last night or first thing today. It's not a good sign that I haven't heard yet, is it?

SnowfallSnowball · 09/09/2020 18:16

I got the job!! 🙌🏾🙌🏾

@McDougal if it’s any comfort, I was expecting to hear back Monday afternoon, Tuesday the latest. I was called at 5pm today! They said it took them longer than anticipated to make a decision, so your one may be taking longer. If you haven’t heard anything by Friday, you’ve nothing to lose by sending a follow up email. Keeping my fingers crossed for you! X

Congratulations @SnowfallSnowball! Fantastic news.

I wish I had similarly good news but I got a phone call to tell me I was pipped to the post. The guy even apologised and said he was very disappointed that they'd gone with the other candidate so I suspect some disagreement on the panel Grin. Oh well, onwards and upwards!

SnowfallSnowball · 10/09/2020 11:17

@McDougal Thank you! I’m so relieved!

That is really frustrating though isn’t it, so close but yet so far and you didn’t even do anything wrong. At least you’re appointable and hopefully if this person doesn’t work out they’ll ask you to join! Fingers crossed for future roles though 😊
