Possible redundancy, new job and mat leave

Advice needed please...

Currently furloughed. I have my redundancy consultation later this week, more than likely my role will be made redundant. I am also pregnant. 1 months notice either side.

I have been offered a temp job elsewhere to start in the next fortnight (no restrictions on my current contract re working for other companies).

I will be eligible for SMP from my current employer as I will be employed during my qualifying week.

If I take this new job will it effect my SMP entitlement?

No. You will still be entitled to SMP from your current employer.

Thanks! I'll take the new job and just see how it goes! X

It depends. If you will be employed by the new employer in your qualifying week, it won’t affect your SMP from your current employer.

If you start a new job after your qualifying week, the first week after the birth of your baby that you work for the second employer, the SMP from your first employer must stop.

I would start employment just before my qualifying week with my new employer.

My employment would end with my current employer about 3 weeks after my qualifying week.

In that case you’re fine Smile

Hi @flowery you have been fab so hoping you could help with my latest conundrum.

I have now been made redundant and currently on notice. Employment to end in 1 month.

I started a new job on 7th.

My old employer have said they are paying my smp from 11th week before child birth - Mid October.

I will be working my new job up until January when baby is born so will be receiving wages as well as smp. Is this allowed?
