Do I need to tell my manager I am pregnant if I am off work sick due to morning sickness? ( I am nearly 7 weeks)

Hi, I have taken the day off work as I am suffering from bad morning sickness and nausea. I have told my manager that I have been vomiting and not feeling well as I am only near 7 weeks and want to wait to tell her until I am getting my 12 week scan.

She has now contacted me and said I am not to come back in until Wednesday and I need to get a Covid 19 test as vomiting is a symptom and to let her know the results ASAP.

I am afraid of doing so and then in the weeks to come when I tell her I am pregnant, her accusing me of lying or wasting time off using covid as an excuse and not correcting her for the real reason?

Am I obliged to tell her I am absent from work due to morning sickness from pregnancy? Or do I have a right to keep it secret until my 12 week scan?

Maybe I am overthinking this?

You don't have to tell them but pregnancy related sickness isn't counted like normal sickness so it could be to your advantage to tell them and keep your sickness record lower.

You’re probably going to have more days like this so I’d inform her and ask her to not tell anyone else until 12 weeks. Pregnancy sickness is counted differently so it’s in your interest to tell her and see what steps can be taken to help you.
