Been called for an interview, can't get the example right for this one. I understand it is about meeting a deadline. does anyone have any good tips on how to go about answering questions for this behaviour? I am aware need to use star format. my example I used where I had to complete a report at a short time didn't score well, so any tips please on what to do?

Thanks a bunch :)

So you've done an interview before and had feedback that this example wasn't great and now you have another interview, right?

Agree about using the STAR format and competency based interviews are alway about demonstrating experience (so if you find yourself saying 'I would do this, I would do that' then don't forget to add ' and I've done it before when I....'h

Perhaps you could either find another example (or develop your current one) to give an insight into different considerations that you may need to juggle. So, for example, you could discuss (a) prioritising (was there other work you needed to put aside or renegotiate deadlines for; how did you go about deciding what was most important?), (b). Who needs to be involved, should anyone else be brought in, c) how you identified the real nub of the issue so you could give targeted and proportionate advice in time available and (d) in terms of actual delivery, how you went about considering the format of the advice/document etc so that if the recipient is under pressure they can understand it quickly (eg 'I telephoned x to tell them there were three key points. I then backed it up with an email with easily digestible bullet points and more detailed advice.....'

Hope this helps! Good luck!

Great advice from Mater

Delivering at pace can be getting systems in place to get it right first time. Working collaboratively to apply the best skills is key. It's not about working long hours , instead it's about appropriate and proportionate prioritisation.

Tie it back to your organisation values if you can.

Thank you both, great tips from you. Mater you're right I have another interview now, previously had one at EO grade now it's for HEO. I'll see if I can develop my current one, would I be able to PM it to you, so I can get it right this time? Appreciate your support.
