Hiya
To cut a long story short, I was self employed before COVID, as well as pregnant. As a result I closed down my business and decided that I will not reopen once my baby arrives. I'm one of those lucky few that wasn't entitled to any government support as a result of the pandemic and honestly its made me think about how unstable being self employed is. I really don't want to be back in that position, especially with a young child.
I've been really lucky enough to secure a few temp work from home jobs since April, so have had funds coming in. My latest role will finish end of next week which will be 4 weeks before my due date. I wasn't planning on applying for jobs, because who will hire me with 4 weeks to go!! However, I happened to notice a job vacancy for a local company for quite a specific role. I previously carried out this role for another company before my business. It's not a common role, so I can't imagine there will be many applicants. Would it be a waste of everyone's time, mine and the recruiter's, for me to apply on the off-chance they would hire me to start in 9 months time?
I have to say its not a highly executive role that you would expect a waiting period for, just quite specific experience is required which I have.
Has anyone been in a similar position? Applying for a job that they wouldn't intend to start for a long period of time?
Thanks
