Career change for stressed lawyer

Coralin · 14/08/2020 21:23

I have been having a really stressful time for a while now as a lawyer and have decided to quit. I feel constantly stressed with the speed at which I'm expected to turn around work, the worry of making mistakes, and the general expectations of the job. Its affected my health and home life and I just don't want to do it any more, even at a different firm or with shorter hours. I've had enough.

So any ideas of what I could do next? DH earns good money and is supportive of me taking a pay cut for something less stressful and more family friendly. I don't care about it being a "professional" job, I will consider anything at this point especially anything 9-5!

I think the question is what would you like to do ? What would you find interesting ? Uplifting ?
You have a chance to make a change .. find something you’d love ... and then explore those opportunities

I know lots of ex-lawyers working in policy development type jobs. It's not 9-5 but it's a lot less stress than corporate law.

Legal job in house maybe? Either for a local authority or similar? Doesn't require re training but a big change in work life balance
