I am on maternity allowance from having my baby in april and get ma until end of november. I am not going back to my old job but am thinking of being self employed. It says you can work for up to ten days as Keeping in Touch days - does this apply to just your old employer or does it include new ventures and how do I tell them - it says I have to tell the incapacity benefit people but rang them and they had no idea!

Has anyone got any ideas?

Octo have you seen this?
Lots of info about MA including working. The 10 days does include new ventures- a new employer or self-employment.

It doesn't actually specifically say how you let them know, it does say for changes in circumstance you should talk to your local JobCentrePlus office...?

Thanks for that - I think will need to dig out the paperwork and simply write to them that intend to work for 10 days before end of november. Just don;t want to end up having to pay money back!
