Career Change

I'm thinking of an absolute career change. I currently work in childcare as a nanny for a family. I hate it to say the least. I want to move into something completely different. I was thinking lately of embalming. There is a training course available and online it said to contact them for more information. I'm wondering how I can word an email to them. Any help would be great. Thanks

As someone who advises on employment and training, I'd be looking at how many vacancies are available for an Embalmer. I'd make a call to a Funeral Directors and ask them about the role. There are Trainee Mortuary Technician roles that come up and would this be an option. You would also need to ensure that the training is nationally accredited, so is this a course run by the British Institute of Embalmers and if not, does it have any value in the industry. First off, ring and speak to someone doing the role and see how they accessed the industry. Don't give up your job and consider whether you can be in one role and learn to move into another, so not risking being out of work at this difficult time.

I've heard of people contacting their local mortuary department to ask for voluntary roles, and I know a local funeral business here invites people to contact them if they are interested in similar roles.

I've always wanted to be in the funeral industry, or a mortuary technician assistant, but never got the courage to do anything about it.

I'm not sure I could do it, so I think I'd have to try some voluntary work first to see how I went on.

Good luck with what you decide OP, do come back and update !
