So I’ve been made redundant after my maternity leave ended in March. My son starts nursery twice a week in August and I’ve been looking for jobs the past 2 weeks. I had a job interview this time last week and I thought it went really well, it lasted for 1hr, they were really selling the company and asking me questions. A day later they emailed me and asked me a few more questions such as when am I available to work, what’s my expected salary, To give 2 references from my previous job so he can talk to them. I replied back, and the 2 references told me they gave great reviews.. that was last Friday. I haven’t heard anything since! Last time I spoke to the ppl interviewing me said there would be second interviews held this week and they would make a decision by this Friday. I think it’s pretty obvious they’re not going to contact me as it’s been 7 days and second interviews should’ve started by now. I just feel so bummed, I haven’t had a job for over a year and I was looking forward to getting back to a routine and having some sort of life!!! Don’t know why I’m writing this, just want to have a moan!

Don't give up!
Drop them an email to say how much you liked the job/ are a good fit/ enjoyed talking with them, and that you look forward to hearing from them, happy to answer any other questions etc

Honestly I think a lot of places will take longer than they usually say. Until you have definitely heard from them they may still be collecting in references etc. Sometimes bureaucracy slows everything down. Good luck!

I've heard that a lot of places are taking a while to come through with offers now, due to covid uncertainty. So they will go through all the hoops to find the right candidate and then it gets delayed whilst someone up on high makes sure they really can go through with an offer. Which is shit for everyone. You think they'd make sure before they start interviewing, but often they don't or it can take a while. Not saying this is definitely the case in your situation but I would not be at all surprised if the hiring manager wants to make an offer and they are being blocked.

Hey all- thanks for your msgs. Turns out they offered me a second interview (2 weeks ago) which lasted 3hr15min could you believe ... they emailed me yesterday afternoon saying they gave the job to someone else. Job searching during these times are hard.. especially for part time 😓
