Working during redundancy period?

I am in the process of being made redundant along with 2 others doing the same job. They have been on furlough since March, I have not. They will remain on furlough until being made redundant. I am expected to continue working. Is this fair?

I'd be annoyed too. It's probably HR-legally fine though . But I'd be mightily pissed off!!!

Life's not fair.

Them being on furlough and you working is no less fair now than it was before you were in your notice period. Lots of employers have rotated people in the same job, so that everyone spends some time on furlough and some time at work.

Yours obviously hasn’t done that for whatever reason, but if you wanted to be on furlough and feel it’s unfair that you haven’t been, it’s no different now than it has been since March.

Actually I’m wrong- it was different prior to 10 June because they could have swapped you over and given you some time on furlough. Since 10 June they have not had the option to do that, and they still don’t.

Did you ask them if rotating was possible when the furlough scheme was still open to new entrants?
